The opening of the Hongcheon Challenger, which has a huge prize money and a ticket to the “FIBA 3×3 World Tour,” is just a day away.
KXO (Chairman Park Geon-yeon), Hongcheon-gun (Gun Governor Shin Young-jae), Hongcheon-gun Council (Chairman Chung Kwan-kyo), and Hongcheon-gun Sports Council (Chairman Shin Eun-seop) will hold “NH Nonghyup Bank FIBA 3×3 Hongcheon Challenger 2026” (hereinafter referred to as Hongcheon Challenger) and “NH Nonghyup Bank 2026 KXO 3×3 Hongcheon SUPER STOP” at the Hongcheon K Convention Center in Hongcheon-gun, Gangwon State from the 18th to the 20th.
The Hongcheon Challenger, which will feature a total of 16 teams, will be held in Hongcheon for four consecutive years this year after its debut in 2023. It is the only FIBA 3×3 Pro Circuit competition held in Korea, and two competitions will be held for three consecutive days as last year.
The Hongcheon Challenger, which will be held on the 18th and 19th, will have 82 million won in total prize money and a ticket to participate in the FIBA 3×3 Macau World Tour 2026 (hereinafter referred to as the World Tour) to be held in Macau from October 17 to 18.
The world tour is considered the top stage of the FIBA 3×3 international competition. The prize money alone amounts to $40,000 (about 55 million won), and the total prize money is $132,000 (about 180 million won).
For professional 3×3 players, it is like a dream stage. As world-class teams compete, it is not easy to get a chance to play, and it is a stage that can be stepped on only if it proves its competitiveness on the FIBA 3×3 stage for a long time.
The Hongcheon Challenger, which will be held for the Macau World Tour, will feature world No. 1 Upp (Serbia), Asian champion Ulaanbaatar (Mongolia), European powerhouses Lausanne (Switzerland) and Vienna (Austria).
The amount of prize money is also difficult to compare with the general 3×3 competition held in Korea. The winning team will be paid $20,000 (about 27 million won) along with a ticket to the Macau World Tour, and the runner-up team will also receive $15,000 (about 20 million won).
The prize money will be given to the final fifth place, and the total prize money will be $60,000 (about 82 million won). The competition to win the Macau World Tour, as well as the fierce competition of world-class 3×3 teams for huge prize money, is also the main point of view of the tournament.
Hongcheon’s basketball festival, where you can meet world-class 3×3 basketball for three days with cool weather, will have a spectacular opening at 11 a.m. on the 18th, starting with the opening match between Liberets (Czech Republic) and Hongcheon (Korea).
