ANTWERP (Belgium) – Europe’s best women’s 3×3 basketball national teams are ready to battle for continental supremacy in Antwerp, with defending champions, World Cup winners, rising powers and some of the biggest stars from the FIBA 3×3 Women’s Series all set to take center stage.

With the FIBA 3×3 Europe Cup 2026 tipping off on September 11, the stage is set for three days of high-intensity action, where every possession could make the difference.

Before the race for gold begins, here are the players who could define the women’s competition in Antwerp.

Noortje Driessen (Netherlands)

The reigning FIBA 3×3 Europe Cup Women’s MVP will be at the heart of the Netherlands’ title defense. Driessen has emerged as one of the leading stars in women’s 3×3 basketball, combining scoring, playmaking and an ability to impact every area of the game. With the Netherlands looking to defend their European crown, expect Driessen to lead the way.

Gracia Alonso de Armiño (Spain)

Spain arrive in Antwerp as one of Europe’s perennial contenders, though they will be without longtime pillars Vega Gimeno and Sandra Ygueravide, who was part of last year’s Team of the Tournament. Her ability to control the tempo and create opportunities will be important as France look to win their fourth Europe Cup title. A tough Pool C awaits, with Czechia and Sweden standing in their way.

Ama Degbeon (Germany)

Germany have developed into one of the continent’s most dangerous women’s programs. Paris 2024 Olympic champion Marie Reichert will have everyone’s attention, but Ama Degbeon could actually be the x-factor. She led the entire FIBA 3×3 Women’s Series 2026 in total rebounds and provides a powerful presence around the basket. With Germany facing Poland and hosts Belgium in Pool D, her physicality and rebounding should prove crucial.

Alexandra Mollenhauer (Azerbaijan)

Azerbaijan are raring to regain their winning ways after their recent disappointment at the FIBA 3×3 Women’s Series 2026 Shanghai Final. After a silver-medal finish at the FIBA 3×3 Asia Cup, the Gilas Pilipinas 3×3 women’s team is set to compete next in the FIBA 3×3 World Cup Qualifier, which will be held this weekend in Singapore.

The team will be composed of Afril Bernardino, Mikka Cacho, Kacey dela Rosa, and Tantoy Ferrer.

The Philippines will face host country Singapore and Brazil in the pool stage and must finish in the top two to advance to the semifinals.

The other group consists of Hungary, Lithuania, and Egypt.

The country needs to place in the top three overall to secure a spot in the FIBA 3×3 World Cup, where the Philippines last participated in 2018 in the women’s division.

The Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas, meanwhile, congratulated the Gilas 3×3 teams for their achievements during the FIBA 3×3 Asia Cup.

“To be the best Asian team in the Asia Cup is certainly a big honor,” said Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) President Ricky Vargas in a release. “They competed with skill, but you could really feel the passion in their game. This is a big boost to SBP’s hopes of making it to the Los Angeles Olympics in 2028,” said SBP president Ricky Vargas.

The women’s team is composed of Cheska Apag, Bernardino, Cacho, and Dela Rosa.

On the other hand, the men’s team composed of Jerrick Ahanmisi, Sean Alter, Chris Koon, and Ralph Cu, reached the quarterfinals before falling to South Korea in that round.

“We’re looking at this event as a watershed moment for SBP’s 3×3 Program. The Women’s team has developed into a medal contender, and the Men’s team has shown potential in only their first tournament together,” said SBP Program Director Ryan Gregorio. “The key was the commitment from our partners in the professional and collegiate ranks in opening their doors to us, along with the support of our sponsors, who believe in the program and our hopes of qualifying for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.”

Gilas Pilipinas Women capped its FIBA 3×3 World Cup campaign on a high note after beating Italy, 17-13, in Poland on Wednesday evening (Manila time).

Camille Clarin led Gilas Women with eight points and three rebounds as they finished Pool C with a 1-3 win-loss record.

Prior to their match against the Italians, the Philippines lost to Latvia, 11-14, Germany, 10-22, and China, 10-22 in its campaign.

Kacey dela Rosa is Gilas Women’s top scorer, averaging 3.8 points in four games.

With only one win to their name after three games, the women’s Gangurrus team looked to be under the pump as they vied to return to the podium at this year’s FIBA 3×3 World Cup in Warsaw, Poland.

They may have only just survived the group stage, but this team, comprising Amy Atwell, Marena Whittle, Hannah Hank and Emma Clarke (and coached by Damon Lowery) were a resilient bunch with palpable chemistry. They didn’t just make it out of the pool stage, they came within one shot of winning it all.

Australia’s campaign began with a pool game against 10^th-seeded Mongolia. While the 21-15 final scoreline looks relatively comfortable, this was probably Australia’s least convincing effort, and despite a size advantage and some flashes of slick ball movement, they struggled to close out the game. Hannah Hank set the tone for her tournament by relentlessly hunting mismatches and finished with nine points and six rebounds, while Emma Clarke’s dominance on the boards (nine rebounds) helped Australia win this stat 26-16, and the extra possessions went a long way towards the win.

WARSAW (Poland) – The road to the FIBA 3×3 World Cup 2026 title narrowed considerably on Day 6 as the Quarter-Finals delivered drama, heartbreak and championship-defining performances.

With a place in the Semi-Finals at stake, the world’s best teams left everything on the half-court. Some contenders strengthened their claims for gold, several stars rose to the occasion, and others saw their World Cup dreams come to an end.

In today’s standout results, the men from Serbia emerged victorious in a blockbuster clash against the Dutch while the Dutch women edged one step closer to back-to-back FIBA 3×3 World Cup titles with a gritty win over Hungary.

SERBIA (Men)

Serbia faced off against the Netherlands in a matchup between two of 3×3’s greatest sides, and it did not disappoint. Physical and closely fought all the way until the end, it would be Serbia who would come away with the victory off the back of a 9-point game from World #1 Strahinja Stojacic. Nemanja Barać got the final bucket to earn Serbia a 21 – 19 win and keep their hopes for World Cup title #7 alive as they head into the Semi-final tomorrow.

NETHERLANDS (Women)

The new-look Dutch side were unbeaten heading into their Quarter-final matchup against Hungary who seemed to have found their groove on both sides of the game. While the Dutch maintained a slight advantage for majority of the game, Hungary were always right there with them. Zoë Slagter and Lotte van Kruistum led the way for the Dutch onslaught with 8 points apiece.

However, Hungary kept barging into the Dutch lead, eventually closing the gap at 20 apiece. In a ‘next buckets wins’ situation, Noortje Driessen put the game on ice for the Dutch with a clutch layup, handing them a 21 – 20 victory over Hungary. They book their place into the Final four as they hope to make it two World Cup titles in a row on Day 7.

In the inaugural Dunk Mania contest, it was Team Grabo that ultimately won. Hometown hero Piotr “Grabo” Grabowski led the way, together with other Team Grabo dunkers Chen “Dunk King” Deng Xing (China) and Dmitry “Smoove” Krivenko (Ukraine).

DAY 7

The FIBA 3×3 World Cup 2026 reaches its climax on Final Day. The Semi-Finals winners advance to the gold medal games, while the losing Semi-Finalists will battle for bronze.
