The host is the Polish capital, and official tournament information states that the court has been set up in central Warsaw, at Plac Defilad, near the Palace of Culture and Science. Such a setting fits the concept of 3×3 basketball, which is often presented as a combination of top-level sport and urban space.

The tournament in Warsaw comes after the 2025 edition in Ulaanbaatar, where Spain won the men’s title and the Netherlands the women’s title. In its preview for 2026, FIBA emphasized that Poland brings together defending champions, Olympic winners, continental champions and national teams that earned their places through qualifications. In the men’s competition, this is especially visible through the group schedule, which includes traditionally strong teams such as Serbia, the United States of America, the Netherlands, Lithuania, France, Germany and Latvia. Group D was particularly interesting because it combined European candidates for a high placement with awkward representatives from the Americas. In such competition, Lithuania’s perfect record gains additional value.
