Top seed Ub (SRB) arrive as one of the squads to beat despite falling short of the title in their last couple of stops, while fellow Serbian powerhouse Liman (SRB) enter as the No. 2 seed and will be eager to add another title to their growing collection.

SINGAPORE – The Ulaanbaatar Amazons (MGL) will enter the FIBA 3×3 Women’s Series Singapore 2026 as the top seed, but they will face a deep international field with the likes of China (CHN), Australia (AUS), Thailand (THA) and Beijing (CHN) also in the hunt for the title. With 16 teams set to battle it out, Singapore is ready for another high-level stop on the Women’s Series calendar.

The Ulaanbaatar Amazons have plenty of motivation heading into Singapore. Still ranked No. 1 in the FIBA 3×3 Women’s Series 2026 standings, the Mongolians have been among the teams to beat throughout the season, although a fifth-place finish at the recent FIBA 3×3 Women’s Series Batam Stop 2026 left them eager to get back on the podium.

Pool B: China (CHN), Netherlands U25 (NED), Singapore (SGP)
Pool C: Australia (AUS), Mitsubishi Electric (JPN), QD A
Pool D: Thailand (THA), Beijing (CHN), QD B

Players to watch

Khulan Onolbaatar will once again be at the heart of Ulaanbaatar’s campaign. The 3×3 basketball veteran has helped drive the Amazons’ standout season so far and will look to lead the top seed back to the top of the podium in Singapore.

China arrive as the No. 2 seed and will be looking to respond after a difficult ninth-place finish at the FIBA 3×3 Women’s Series CS Rapid Stop 2026. Yang Hengyu remains one of the team’s key offensive threats and will be central to China’s push for their second Women’s Series stop win of the season.

Australia, seeded third, return to Women’s Series action after winning the FIBA 3×3 Women’s Series Poitiers Stop 2026 back in June. Marena Whittle and company currently sit 12th in the standings, giving them another opportunity to make up ground with another deep run in Singapore.

Thailand are seeded fourth after taking third place at WS Batam. Rattiyakorn Udomsuk will look to lead the team one step further as Thailand chase their first Women’s Series stop win of the season.

Beijing are the No. 5 seed and arrive in Singapore with plenty of recent momentum. They have reached the Semi-Finals at three of their last four Women’s Series stops, but a breakthrough title has remained just out of reach. Zhang ZhiTing and her teammates will look to change that this time around.

Mitsubishi Electric (JPN), seeded sixth, will also have unfinished business. Fuyuko Takahashi and the Japanese side came close to their first Women’s Series stop win in WS Tokyo and will look to carry that momentum into Singapore.

The Netherlands U25 (NED) are seeded seventh and enter the event after a top-eight finish at WS Tokyo. Quinta van Schijndel will lead the young Dutch side as they look to take another step forward and challenge for their first Women’s Series stop win.

Mongolia (MGL) complete the seeded teams in Pool A alongside top seed Ulaanbaatar Amazons and Slovenia (SLO). Pool B features China, the Netherlands U25 and host side Singapore (SGP), while Australia and Mitsubishi Electric will await the winner of Qualifying Draw A in Pool C. Thailand and Beijing headline Pool D, with the winner of Qualifying Draw B completing the group.

The qualifying draw will feature six teams fighting for the final two places in the Main Draw. Madagascar (MAD), Lion City (SGP) and Indonesia (INA) will meet in Qualifying Draw A, while Manila (PHI), Brazil (BRA) and Vietnam (VIE) will battle it out in Qualifying Draw B.

With established Women’s Series contenders, emerging U25 talent and several teams looking to make a breakthrough all converging on one court, Singapore promises another competitive stop on the 2026 calendar. The race is on.

Who’s Next? Why Ulaanbaatar MMC Energy Are Overdue for a World Tour Win This Season | FIBA Basketball https://3x3ce.org/whos-next-why-ulaanbaatar-mmc-energy-are-overdue-for-a-world-tour-win-this-season-fiba-basketball/ Mon, 10 Aug 2026 18:44:57 +0000 https://3x3ce.org/whos-next-why-ulaanbaatar-mmc-energy-are-overdue-for-a-world-tour-win-this-season-fiba-basketball/

MIES (Switzerland) – Ulaanbaatar MMC Energy have evolved from an exciting homegrown project into one of the FIBA 3×3 World Tour’s most dangerous contenders. Their 2026 campaign has already featured two runner-up finishes at WT Ulaanbaatar and WT Shanghai after opening the season with a third-place finish in WT Chengdu. Despite coming agonizingly close on multiple occasions, a first World Tour title has remained just out of reach. Yet every tournament has strengthened the case that their breakthrough is no longer a matter of if, but when. Here are three reasons they could finally get over the line.

Here are three reasons why they could finally turn that promise into their first World Tour title of the season.

1. Nauris Miezis is playing at an MVP level

Every championship contender needs a superstar capable of changing games with the ball in his hands. Well, Ulaanbaatar MMC Energy already have one.

Recently leading Latvia to the FIBA 3×3 World Cup 2026 title, Nauris Miezis continues to remind everyone why he remains one of the sport’s premier players. Few combine scoring, playmaking and late-game composure as seamlessly as the Latvian maestro. Whether he’s creating separation for a signature two-pointer, threading a pass through traffic or taking over in clutch moments, Miezis dictates the rhythm of every game he plays.

More importantly, his influence extends beyond the stat sheet. His decision-making is the thread that ties Ulaanbaatar’s offense together, creating opportunities for teammates while forcing defenses into impossible choices.

2. One of the deepest Mongolian cores

The story of Ulaanbaatar MMC Energy underscores the rapid growth of Mongolia’s 3×3 basketball talent. Delgernyam Davaasambuu, Dulguun Enkhbat, Anand Ariunbold and Enkhbaatar Onolbaatar have matured into reliable World Tour contributors capable of matching up against the Pro Circuit’s established powers. Rather than relying solely on Miezis to create everything, Ulaanbaatar have attacked with balance, chemistry and growing confidence.

The numbers back it up. Their 9-5 World Tour record translates to a 64 percent winning percentage, which is one of the five best marks on the Tour this season. That consistency reflects a team that has moved beyond being an underdog and into the conversation with the circuit’s elite.

3. They can beat anyone

Championship teams emerge from a foundation of belief they have built one signature victory at a time. Ulaanbaatar MMC Energy have undoubtedly already assembled an impressive collection. They captured the Sukhbaatar Challenger 2026 title, reached two FIBA 3×3 World Tour Finals in Ulaanbaatar and Shanghai, eliminated Liman in the WT Shanghai Quarter-Finals before knocking off Shanghai in the Semi-Finals, and pushed Hangzhou Jingwei to the limit in the championship game. Later in the season, they stunned top-seeded Ub in the Ulaanbaatar Quarter-Finals with a spectacular alley-oop winner from Miezis to Davaasambuu before ultimately falling to Liman in an overtime classic in the Final.

Those performances have defined the conversation around this team. They don’t need to prove they belong on the biggest stage. They just need to finish the job.

X-Factor: Who’s the second scorer?

Miezis will command the spotlight, and opposing defenses will continue to build game plans around slowing him down. That creates opportunities for everyone else.

If Davaasambuu or any other member of the Mongolian core can consistently provide five to seven points alongside Miezis, Ulaanbaatar MMC Energy become significantly more difficult to defend. Finding that dependable secondary scoring option could be the final piece that turns deep tournament runs into actual World Tour stop wins.

The overtime defeat to Liman in front of a packed home crowd was heartbreaking, but it may ultimately prove to be the defining moment of Ulaanbaatar MMC Energy’s season. Standing toe-to-toe with the very best in such an atmosphere fosters trust and belief. If they carry that belief and level of execution into the remaining stops, their long-awaited first World Tour title this year may not be far away.

Stefan Milivojevic named FIBA 3×3 World Tour Ulaanbaatar 2026 MVP | FIBA Basketball https://3x3ce.org/stefan-milivojevic-named-fiba-3x3-world-tour-ulaanbaatar-2026-mvp-fiba-basketball/ Mon, 10 Aug 2026 11:07:48 +0000 https://3x3ce.org/stefan-milivojevic-named-fiba-3x3-world-tour-ulaanbaatar-2026-mvp-fiba-basketball/

ULAANBAATAR (Mongolia) – Stefan Milivojevic of Liman (SRB) produced a sensational weekend at the FIBA 3×3 World Tour Ulaanbaatar 2026, earning Most Valuable Player honors after leading his team to the title at the Sukhbaatar Square.

Milivojevic was the driving force behind Liman becoming the first team to win two FIBA 3×3 World Tour stops in 2026. The Serbian powerhouse recovered from a narrow Day 1 loss to Toulouse (FRA) before storming through the knockout rounds, defeating Shanghai (CHN), DeQing (CHN) and hometown favorites Ulaanbaatar MMC Energy (MGL) to capture the crown.

When the pressure was at its highest, Milivojevic delivered.

The dynamic playmaker erupted for 10 points in the Quarter-Finals against Shanghai before coming up clutch once again in the Final, scoring the two decisive putbacks in overtime to seal a thrilling 17-15 victory over Ulaanbaatar MMC Energy.

Throughout the tournament, Milivojevic was everywhere for Liman. He finished second overall with 31 points and a player value of 51.1 while leading the competition in both highlights (29) and drives (13). He also ranked third in key assists with 14, underlining his all-around impact on the tournament.

His heroics earned him the MVP trophy and capped another memorable chapter in Liman’s remarkable 2026 campaign.

With two FIBA 3×3 World Tour titles already under their belt, Milivojevic and Liman have firmly established themselves as the team to beat this season.
