RIO DE JANEIRO (Brazil) – With the FIBA 3×3 World Tour Rio de Janeiro Final 2026 set to bring together 14 teams in the Brazilian city on December 12-13, every game across the remaining stops of the 2026 calendar could prove crucial as teams battle for their place at the biggest event of the year.

The Top 10 teams in the FIBA 3×3 World Tour 2026 standings will earn direct qualification to the Rio de Janeiro Final 2026 Main Draw. Those teams will be confirmed either after the FIBA 3×3 World Tour Hong Kong 2026, or earlier if their qualification becomes statistically certain.

The race does not stop there, though. Three additional teams will qualify to the Rio de Janeiro Final 2026 based on the highest number of wins in Pro Events Main Draw games after the last Stop of the season, excluding teams that have already secured a place among the Top 10.

Of those three teams, the best-ranked team will be allocated directly to the Rio de Janeiro Final 2026 Main Draw, while the other two will enter the Play-In, giving them one final route into the competition.

One additional spot in the Play-In will be reserved for the LOC Wild Card, completing the 14-team field.

If teams are tied in the relevant qualification criteria, the tie-breakers will be applied in the following order: Season Win Percentage, followed by Team Ranking.

That means every victory matters. With the final qualification places potentially coming down to the closing stages of the FIBA 3×3 World Tour 2026 season, teams will have everything to play for as the road to the Rio de Janeiro Final 2026 reaches its climax.

SHANGHAI (China) – Seven teams have now secured their places at the FIBA 3×3 Women’s Series Project Redwings Shanghai Final 2026, with the eighth and last spot set to be decided at WS Takasaki.

The Netherlands (NED), Ulaanbaatar Amazons (MGL), Rapid Bucharest (ROU), Neftchi SOCAR (AZE), Beijing (CHN), China (CHN) and France (FRA) have all booked their places at the Shanghai Final, setting the stage for another star-studded showdown in one of the world’s most vibrant cities on September 5-6.

With just one qualification spot remaining, Germany (GER) and Mitsubishi Electric are the only teams still in contention, with the outcome set to be determined at the penultimate stop of the Women’s Series season in Takasaki.

Seven teams punch their tickets

The Netherlands headline the confirmed field after putting together another strong FIBA 3×3 Women’s Series campaign. They have won five WS stops overall, including their last four in a row, earning their place among the teams bound for Shanghai.

They will be joined by Mongolia’s Ulaanbaatar Amazons, Romania’s Rapid Bucharest and Azerbaijan’s Neftchi SOCAR, while China will have a particularly strong presence at their home Final with both Beijing and China securing qualification. France have also secured their place in Shanghai as the seventh qualified team.

That leaves just one spot still to be decided.

Who claims the final qualification berth?

For Germany and Mitsubishi Electric, the equation is straightforward: if Mitsubishi finish third or higher at WS Takasaki, they will claim the last qualification berth and complete the Shanghai Final field.

If Mitsubishi finish outside the top three in Takasaki, though, Germany will secure the eighth and last Shanghai Final spot instead.

That makes Takasaki a crucial chapter in the Women’s Series regular season, with Mitsubishi Electric needing a top-three finish to keep their Shanghai hopes alive, while Germany will be intently watching and waiting to see if they can secure the final ticket.

Shanghai ready for another Women’s Series Final

The FIBA 3×3 Women’s Series Project Redwings Shanghai Final 2026 will take place on September 5-6 at the West Bund Art Center in Xuhui District, Shanghai.

It will be the second consecutive year that Shanghai hosts the Women’s Series Final, following Canada’s triumph at the 2025 edition.

The 2026 event will also mark the fifth FIBA 3×3 Women’s Series event held in China this season, following the Chengdu, Shanghai, Xiantao and Jinan stops.

With two more berths to be filled, the complete field for the FIBA 3×3 Women’s Series Project Redwings Shanghai Final 2026 will be confirmed following WS Takasaki.

The Indian men’s basketball team stormed into the main draw of the FIBA 3×3 Asia Cup 2026 in Singapore after beating Bahrain, Kazakhstan and Hong Kong China in Pool D of its qualifying round on Wednesday.

India, 83rd in the 3×3 basketball rankings, produced a clinical performance to beat world No. 19 Bahrain 21-12 in their final Pool D qualifying match. Harsh Dagar dominated the court, scoring 15 of India’s total points.

Earlier in the day, India kept themselves in contention with two hard-fought wins.

They staged a late comeback to beat world No. 55 Kazakhstan 20-18 in their opener. Pranav Prince top-scored with nine points, while Arvind Muthu added five. 

Kazakhstan had moved 18-16 ahead in the closing stages, but India responded with a decisive four-point burst, with Prince and Muthu driving the turnaround.

India then edged 84th-ranked Hong Kong China 19-18 in another thriller. Muthu led the scoring with seven points, while Kushal Singh contributed five. 

With three wins, the men’s Indian basketball team, which is yet to win the FIBA 3×3 Asia Cup, is now in Pool D of the main draw alongside Qatar and New Zealand.

Matches in the main draw games will begin on April 3. The top two teams from the group stage will progress to the quarter-finals. 

Last year, India made it to the quarter-finals after 12 years. The same four-member squad is competing this year. 

The Indian women’s 3×3 basketball team, which won the inaugural edition in 2013, will play their qualifying round matches on Thursday.
