MACAU (China) – The FIBA 3×3 World Tour Macau 2026 brings together some of the biggest names in 3×3 basketball, with established stars, in-form contenders and hungry challengers ready to battle for the title on October 17-18.

From World Tour statistical leaders to players chasing a breakthrough victory, Macau offers plenty of compelling storylines. Strahinja Stojacic (Ub) will be out to bounce back after a rare early exit, while Worthy de Jong (Amsterdam RABOBANK) arrives fresh off an MVP performance in WT Bucharest. Fabian Giessmann (Baskets Bonn) has been instrumental in a remarkable season, while several other stars will be looking to turn individual brilliance into another World Tour stop win.

Here are eight players to keep an eye on when the action gets underway.

Strahinja Stojacic (Ub)

There is never a shortage of reasons to watch ‘Doctor Strange,’ but Stojacic arrives in Macau with unfinished business. The Serbian superstar remains the No. 1-ranked player so far this season and continues to lead all FIBA 3×3 World Tour players in overall player value. He also tops the circuit in highlights (172) and key assists (59), underlining his ability to influence games well beyond scoring.

However, Ub (SRB) will be eager to respond after failing to advance past pool play at WT Bucharest, marking the first time the Serbian powerhouse has suffered that fate this season. With two World Tour stop victories already in the bag this year, Stojacic will be central to Ub’s push for a third title in Macau.

Worthy de Jong (Amsterdam RABOBANK)

No player arrives in Macau with more momentum than de Jong. The Dutch star recently led Amsterdam RABOBANK (NED) to back-to-back WT Bucharest titles and claimed MVP honors, adding another statement performance to an already outstanding campaign.

De Jong leads all World Tour players in scoring with 242 points and ranks second overall this season in terms of total player value. He also tops the circuit in two-pointers made (64), double-fives (11) and triple-fives (4). That combination of scoring volume and long-range firepower makes him one of the most dangerous players in the field. With Amsterdam chasing their third World Tour stop victory of the season, de Jong will once again be the headline figure in their title ambitions.

James Parrott (Miami)

Parrott brings plenty of firepower to Macau as Miami (USA) look to build on their success across the 2026 campaign. The high-flying American was named MVP at WT Zadar earlier this year, leading Miami to their only FIBA 3×3 World Tour stop victory so far this season. Now, he will be looking to help the team double that tally.

Parrott has also helped Miami win three Challenger titles at FISE Birmingham, Sansar and Phoenix, while also playing a role in the USA’s FIBA 3×3 Champions Cup 2026 triumph in Bangkok earlier this year. He is also tied with Fabian Giessmann for the most blocks among World Tour players this season, with 18. If Parrott can bring his athleticism and defensive presence to the half-court, Miami will have a strong chance of making another deep run.

Fabian Giessmann (Baskets Bonn)

Speaking of Giessmann, he and Baskets Bonn have put together a season to remember. The German standout has helped his team win three World Tour stops — Amsterdam, Lausanne and Debrecen. That has made Baskets Bonn the only team to have claimed three stop victories so far this season. Their success has extended to the Challenger circuit, with additional titles in Manila and La Reunion.

Ranked third overall among World Tour players this season, Giessmann has been one of the driving forces behind Bonn’s consistency. He is tied with Parrott for the FIBA 3×3 World Tour lead in blocks with 18 and ranks second in dunks with 32, showcasing his ability to make an all-around impact. With Baskets Bonn looking to add another title to their collection, Giessmann could be one of the defining players in Macau.

Stefan Kojic (Skyliners)

When Kojic finds his range, he can change a game in a hurry. The Skyliners sharpshooter remains one of the most dangerous two-point threats in 3×3 basketball, capable of turning a close contest on its head with a timely shooting run.

Skyliners (GER) are still searching for their first World Tour stop victory of the season, giving Kojic and his teammates plenty of motivation heading into Macau. The German side recently finished in the top six at the Go Too! Group Aichi Challenger before securing a top-three finish at the Madrid Challenger. Kojic’s shooting could prove crucial as Skyliners look to translate their Challenger form into a breakthrough World Tour performance.

Anand Ariunbold (Ulaanbaatar MMC Energy)

Known as ‘The Archer,’ Ariunbold is one of Ulaanbaatar MMC Energy’s (MGL) key weapons from the perimeter. The Mongolian sharpshooter can get hot in a hurry, and his ability to knock down two-pointers makes him a constant threat whenever he finds his rhythm.

Ulaanbaatar are still chasing their first World Tour stop victory of the season, but they have already come close, finishing runners-up in Shanghai and on home soil in Ulaanbaatar. Ariunbold will be looking to turn those near-misses into a title run in Macau. If The Archer gets firing from long range, Ulaanbaatar could once again put themselves in contention.

Karlis Lasmanis (Shanghai)

Lasmanis arrives in Macau carrying one of the biggest achievements of his career, having helped Latvia win the FIBA 3×3 World Cup earlier this year. The Latvian star has proven he can deliver on the biggest international stage, and now he will look to bring that winning momentum to the World Tour with Shanghai.

Shanghai are still searching for their first World Tour stop victory of the season and have struggled to find consistent results. They have advanced beyond pool play in only four of their seven World Tour appearances this year, leaving little room for error in Macau. With Lasmanis bringing championship experience and proven big-game quality, Shanghai will hope he can help them turn their potential into a breakthrough result.

Nico Kaltenbrunner (Vienna)

Kaltenbrunner enters Macau with momentum after helping Vienna win the recent Hongcheon Challenger. He also arrives fresh from a top-four finish at WT Deqing, giving the Austrian side reason to believe they can threaten the leading contenders.

Vienna are still searching for their first World Tour stop victory of the season, but they have shown encouraging consistency by reaching the knockout stages in four of their six World Tour appearances. Kaltenbrunner will be central to their hopes of taking the next step.

With statistical leaders, proven champions and teams hungry for a breakthrough all converging on Macau, the competition promises plenty of intriguing individual battles. From Stojacic’s bid to get Ub back on track to de Jong’s quest for another MVP-caliber performance, these eight players could have a major say in who leaves Macau with the title.

“I was very surprised to see that the national team players came, not just a hobby.”

Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province Governor Woo Sang-ho visited the NH Nonghyup Bank FIBA 3×3 Hongcheon Challenger 2026 site at a special court at the Hongcheon K Convention Center in Hongcheon-gun, Gangwon State on the 19th.

Governor Woo Sang-ho met with Hongcheon-gun residents before the opening ceremony and even took group photos to shine the scene to his heart’s content.

In fact, Governor Woo Sang-ho has a special relationship with Choi Hee-am, chairman of the Hongcheon Challenger Organizing Committee, and Park Geon-yeon, chairman of KXO. He said, “Chairman Choi Hee-am and Chairman Park Geon-yeon have a deep relationship since their days at Yonsei University. Chairman Choi Hee-am was a basketball star in South Korea and a great leader who shone at Yonsei University, Chairman Park Geon-yeon said, “I’ve known him for decades as a university colleague.”

“In fact, I came here with a personal connection rather than basketball, and when I came to the scene, I thought I should maintain and develop this tournament, and I decided to raise it as a representative sports event in Gangwon State.” Overall, I heard that he is planning various parts with Sono. If Gangwon State cooperates with corporate sponsorship, Hongcheon-gun’s will, and it is likely to settle into a more meaningful competition than now. We need to discuss the specifics with the relevant departments, but we are thinking about taking a direction to further develop what KXO has grown so far on its own,” he added.

The Hongcheon Challenger is the best 3×3 competition in Korea and a very large event that FIBA is paying attention to. In particular, it is great that national representatives from each country visit Hongcheon to play an active role. Governor Woo Sang-ho also said, “I was surprised. In fact, international competitions of this size are held in large cities (laughs). However, the Hongcheon Challenger’s enthusiasm was hotter than expected. It was the first time I knew that the athletes who participated in this competition were not just hobbies but national teams. I was very surprised to find out that it was a huge competition. The people who have led this competition so far have been very successful and moving,” he said.

In the case of population-devastated areas such as Hongcheon-gun, large-scale competitions such as the Hongcheon Challenger are certainly of great help. This is true even if you look at the entire Gangwon State in a similar crisis situation.

In response, Governor Woo Sang-ho said, “I think it is meaningful to think that the overall base is expanded rather than ending in a simple event called a sports event. Of course, when the event is held, people from outside can be expected to flow in and revitalize the commercial district for a while. However, what should be viewed in the ultimate direction is to create a virtuous cycle structure such as expanding life clubs through events and growing players. I think the expansion of the sports base in Gangwon State is a very important part,” he said.

“It is also meaningful to tour several cities and hold events, but it seems more meaningful as a sports policy to create an overall boom and even expand the base,” he added.

If the entire Hongcheon-gun County has joined forces to achieve the success of the Hongcheon Challenger, active support and cooperation from Gangwon State are also needed to expand it.

Governor Woo Sang-ho said, “In fact, there are quite a few other places besides Hongcheon. Although it’s mostly an event-oriented company (laughs). The important thing is that I want to do it in Gangwon State. And there are many international elements. There are also proposals to expand areas in various regions such as cycling and racing, he said. “There are a number of proposals that are great and popular internationally. The problem is finances. Looking at the Gangwon State’s finances, it is true that there is not enough capacity to invest in sports. We are having a conversation, but we need to think a lot before making a decision,” he explained.

Whenever a large-scale competition is held, it is the accommodation that becomes a problem. In the case of large cities in Gangwon State, accommodation facilities are excellent, but there are many places that are not. Governor Woo Sang-ho said, “There must be accommodation problems. Except for the high-quality facilities in Gangneung and Sokcho, the reality is that it is not easy overall. Chuncheon Mayor Yuk Dong-han is steadily holding taekwondo competitions, but accommodation facilities are holding back. With many people gathering, the commercial district has grown to some extent, but there are still many shortcomings. In the end, we need to take a way to grow steadily and solve problems. Now, we are also considering growing international competitions to suit regional characteristics, he said. “Nevertheless, if it is possible to revitalize commercial districts and expand the base of sports, we are trying to make accurate plans with greater interest.”

Mongolia, which is considered the strongest in Asia’s 3×3, is one of the players to watch out for, especially Volor Erdene Gantzolmon.

Gantzolmon represented Sansar at the NH Nonghyup Bank FIBA 3×3 Hongcheon Challenger 2026 held at a special court at the Hongcheon K Convention Center in Hongcheon-gun, Gangwon State on the 18th.

Gantzolmon is considered a promising player in the country, with a 5-5 ratio as well as a 3×3 ratio in Mongolia. Kang Vail, who worked with him, said, “He has good game management skills and skills. Therefore, he said, “I am a prospect who is also very interested in Mongolia.”

Sansar and Gantzolmon participated in this competition because they had a ticket to participate in the FIBA 3×3 Macau World Tour 2026.

Gantz-Olmon said, “I participated with my teammates because it was a competition where the world tour ticket was at stake. In addition, 3×3 must participate in many competitions and earn points. That’s why I came out,” he said.

Gantzolmon participated as a Mongolian player in the last FIBA 3×3 Nations League and competed with South Korea. “I thought all four of South Korea had shooting ability and overall skills were good. “He did a great job,” he said. “Among them, No. 11 (Lee Dong-geun) stood out the most.”

South Korea and Gantz-Olmon are also scheduled to meet at the upcoming 2026 Aichi and Nagoya Asian Games. Mongolia is the favorite to win the 3×3 Asian Games. South Korea is also most wary of Mongolia along with China and Iran.

Gantz-Olmon said, “I will leave the country on Sunday after finishing this tournament. Our goal is to win a medal. “I will do my best to achieve that goal,” he said. “The Republic of Korea is the most wary team along with China. It’s true that they’re good, but we’re going to do our best to win,” he said.

Stars ready to shine: Players to watch at FIBA 3×3 Women’s Series Project Redwings Shanghai Final 2026 | FIBA Basketball https://3x3ce.org/stars-ready-to-shine-players-to-watch-at-fiba-3x3-womens-series-project-redwings-shanghai-final-2026-fiba-basketball/ Wed, 02 Sep 2026 17:51:52 +0000 https://3x3ce.org/stars-ready-to-shine-players-to-watch-at-fiba-3x3-womens-series-project-redwings-shanghai-final-2026-fiba-basketball/

SHANGHAI (China) – The best of the FIBA 3×3 Women’s Series are ready to take center stage in Shanghai, with the season’s biggest stars set to battle for the ultimate prize at the FIBA 3×3 Women’s Series Project Redwings Shanghai Final 2026.

From the Netherlands’ superstar duo to dominant scorers, creative playmakers and homegrown threats, the eight-team field is packed with players capable of deciding the biggest moments.

Here are 10 players to watch when the action tips off at the West Bund Art Center in Xuhui District.

Dutch dynamic duo

The Netherlands (NED) arrive in Shanghai with two of the biggest stars in the Women’s Series.

Ilse Kuijt enters as the No. 1 player in the 2026 Women’s Series Rankings after an outstanding campaign that has included MVP honors at WS Tokyo and WS Sea Breeze. She has been part of five of the Netherlands’ six stop victories and ranks second in the Women’s Series in two-pointers made with 32, while her 58 key assists rank fifth overall. Her 216.2 total player value is also sixth-best in the field.

Noortje Driessen is not far behind, ranked No. 2 in the Women’s Series this season. The versatile guard has also featured in five of the Netherlands’ six victories and collected MVP honors at WS Amsterdam and WS CS Rapid. She ranks fourth in total drives and second in free-throws made with 42, while her 207.6 total player value places her eighth overall.

Together, Kuijt and Driessen give the Netherlands one of the most formidable one-two punches in Shanghai.

Neftchi’s two-pronged attack

If there is one player who can match that star power, it is Alexandra Mollenhauer of Neftchi SOCAR (AZE). The Azerbaijani standout is ranked No. 3 in the Women’s Series and has been one of the most prolific and dominant players on the circuit all season. Mollenhauer leads the Women’s Series in total points with 250 and total player value at 308.5, while also topping the charts in two-pointers made (50), free-throws made (47), key assists (105) and highlights (163).

She has also recorded 13 double-fives and nine triple-fives, both Series-best marks, while her 25 blocks rank second overall. Mollenhauer claimed MVP honors at WS Orléans and will be one of the biggest threats to any team standing between Neftchi SOCAR and the title.

Mollenhauer is not the only Neftchi SOCAR player capable of taking over a game. Arica Carter, ranked No. 11 in the Women’s Series, claimed MVP honors at WS Marseille and has provided another dynamic scoring and driving option for the Azerbaijani side. She ranks fifth in drives with 43 and ninth in highlights with 92. With Mollenhauer and Carter on the same team, Neftchi SOCAR possess plenty of offensive firepower.

Driving Rapid forward

Rapid Bucharest (ROU) will look to Hortense Limouzin to set the tone in Shanghai. Ranked No. 5 overall this season, Limouzin has made her mark through relentless penetration and creativity. She leads the entire Women’s Series in drives with 106 and one-pointers made with 156, while ranking second in total points (200), total player value (276.5) and highlights (155). After earning MVP honors at WS Baku, Limouzin will be one of the players to watch whenever Rapid Bucharest need a spark.

Germany’s anchor

Germany (GER) will arrive in Shanghai with Marie Reichert anchoring their defense. The No. 15-ranked player was named MVP at WS Bangkok and leads the entire Women’s Series in blocks with 41. She also ranks fifth in total points with 185 and seventh in total player value at 216.1, while her 131 one-pointers place her third overall. Reichert’s ability to impact the game at both ends will be vital as Germany look to make their mark on the season finale.

All-around threat

France may still be searching for their first Women’s Series stop victory of the season, but Marie-Eve Paget gives them a reliable all-around presence. Ranked No. 17 this season, Paget does not necessarily dominate one statistical category. Instead, her value comes from contributing across the board and doing whatever France need in any given game. With the stakes higher than ever in Shanghai, that versatility could prove particularly valuable.

Mongolian ace

Khulan Onolbaatar has been at the heart of Ulaanbaatar Amazons‘ (MGL) impressive campaign. The No. 8-ranked Women’s Series player enters the Shanghai Final with the third-highest total player value this season at 242.7 and ranks second in key assists with 62. She is also third in two-pointers made (47) and fourth in highlights (124). Onolbaatar was named MVP at WS Jinan and will be crucial to the Amazons’ hopes of making another deep run.

Homegrown firepower

The home teams will have their own stars to lean on when the Shanghai crowd gets behind them.

Zhang ZhiTing is the leading scorer for Beijing (CHN), ranking fourth overall in the Women’s Series in total points with 190 while sitting second in one-pointers made with 150. The No. 22-ranked player will be looking to help Beijing chase their first Women’s Series event victory of the year on home soil.

China, meanwhile, will turn to Yang Hengyu. Ranked No. 26, Yang sits seventh in total points with 190 and 10th in total player value at 199.1. She is also second in double-fives with 11 and fifth in total rebounds with 143. Yang helped China get the win at WS Xiantao earlier this season.

With two Chinese teams in the field, both Zhang and Yang could have a major say in how far the hosts go.

The players set to make an impact at World Tour Debrecen 2026 | FIBA Basketball https://3x3ce.org/the-players-set-to-make-an-impact-at-world-tour-debrecen-2026-fiba-basketball/ Thu, 27 Aug 2026 03:37:19 +0000 https://3x3ce.org/the-players-set-to-make-an-impact-at-world-tour-debrecen-2026-fiba-basketball/

DEBRECEN (Hungary) – The FIBA 3×3 World Tour 2026 heads to Debrecen on August 29-30, bringing together some of the biggest names on the circuit and several players arriving with plenty to prove and looking for breakthrough results.

From the standard-setting Strahinja Stojacic to recent Challenger winners James Parrott and Fabian Giessmann, there will be no shortage of players capable of taking over a game. Here are eight players to keep an eye on in Debrecen.

Strahinja Stojacic (Ub)

Doctor Strange remains the benchmark. Stojacic continues to lead all World Tour players in overall player value, and his form has been impossible to overlook. The Serbian recently helped Ub (SRB) claim wins at the Bordeaux Challenger and Antwerp Quest, adding to a season in which the world’s No. 1 team has already collected two World Tour stop wins. With another title in their sights, expect Stojacic to once again be at the center of everything Ub does in Debrecen.

Debrecen also holds a special place for Stojacic, as this is where he made his 3×3 basketball debut back in 2018.

James Parrott (Miami)

Parrott arrives in Hungary fresh from helping Miami (USA) win the FISE Birmingham Challenger, giving the American team another boost heading into their latest World Tour appearance. One of the most exciting players to watch on the circuit, Parrott has the ability to change the game in an instant with his scoring and creativity. Miami already have one World Tour stop win this season and will be looking to double that tally in Debrecen.

Dorde Simeunovic (Liman)

Few big men on the World Tour bring the combination of size, mobility and skill that Simeunovic does. The Liman (SRB) forward has established himself as one of the circuit’s most dynamic scoring threats and will be central to their hopes in Debrecen. Liman will be looking for a response after finishing fifth at the Bordeaux Challenger and ninth at World Tour Lausanne, making Simeunovic one of the players to watch as they look to get back into the mix.

Worthy de Jong (Amsterdam RABOBANK)

There are few players who bring as much experience and personality to a World Tour court as de Jong, and the Dutch veteran has continued to deliver for Amsterdam RABOBANK (NED) despire some injury setbacks. He led Amsterdam to the World Tour Vienna title and has also helped them to podium finishes at World Tour Amsterdam, the Singapore Challenger and the Beijing Challenger. With fans likely to embrace one of the circuit’s most recognizable names, de Jong should be among the players attracting plenty of attention in Debrecen.

Evaldas Džiaugys (Raudondvaris Hoptrans)

Džiaugys has been a major part of Raudondvaris Hoptrans‘ (LTU) strong recent run, leading the Lithuanian side to a runner-up finish at World Tour Lausanne before another fifth-place finish at the Beijing Challenger. That said, Raudondvaris are still searching for their first World Tour stop win of the season. Of course, Džiaugys will be one of the key pieces in their bid to finally get over the line in Debrecen.

Nauris Miezis (Ulaanbaatar MMC Energy)

Miezis came agonizingly close to a World Tour title in WT Ulaanbaatar, and he will get another opportunity to help Ulaanbaatar MMC Energy (MGL) make that breakthrough in Debrecen. This will be Miezis’ third World Tour stop appearance of the season after missing Lausanne, and his experience and scoring ability could prove crucial for a team still chasing its first World Tour victory of 2026.

Fabian Giessmann (Baskets Bonn)

Giessmann and Baskets Bonn (GER) have been one of the teams to beat in recent weeks. They are coming off a World Tour Lausanne victory and followed that up with another title at the Beijing Challenger. Giessmann has also established his place among the top five World Tour players this season in overall player value, underlining just how important he has been to Bonn’s success. Another strong showing in Debrecen could put the German side in position to claim their third World Tour stop win of the year.

Cameron Forte (Shanghai)

Forte has been knocking on the door of a major breakthrough all season. He has led Shanghai to the Semi-Finals at each of his last three Challenger appearances in Hanchuan, Uenohara and Beijing. His most recent performance in Beijing was particularly eye-catching, as Forte led the entire field in both total points and overall player value while recording multiple double-fives and even a triple-five game. Shanghai are still searching for their first World Tour stop win of the season, though. If Forte can reproduce that kind of production in Debrecen, they could be a serious threat to make a run at it.

Maxwell Mackinnon enters Window 4 after putting together an impressive collegiate season at LSU. The Australian guard started 30 of 31 games for the Tigers in 2025-26 and led the team in scoring at 15.7 points per game, while also averaging 2.6 rebounds and 2.5 assists. He was even more productive down the stretch, averaging 20.4 points over his final five games. Mackinnon also knocked down 67 three-pointers at a 37.6 percent clip. That combination of scoring and perimeter shooting could make him an intriguing new option for an Australian side that has already shown their overwhelming offensive firepower.

Few returning players would generate as much excitement as Yuki Kawamura. The diminutive point guard has already established himself as one of Asia’s premier playmakers, averaging 13.6 points and 7.6 assists at the World Cup in 2023 before starring for Japan at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games with 20.3 points and 7.7 assists per game.

Kawamura’s combination of speed, creativity and fearless shot-making makes him a nightmare for opposing defenses, while his NBA experience has only added to his development. In his expected return to Japan for Window 4, expect the 25-year-old to immediately become one of the most closely watched players in the competition.

Lebanon seem likely to add some serious size and experience with the potential debut of DJ Funderburk. The 6-foot-10 big man has spent years playing professionally across Europe and beyond, including an appearance in the Europe Cup with Anwil Wloclawek, where he averaged 10.7 points and 3.8 rebounds per game in 2025. Funderburk’s athleticism and scoring ability around the basket would give the Cedars another frontcourt option as they prepare for the tougher challenges of the Second Round, especially as they are set to face traditional powerhouses Korea and China.

James Justice Jr. would bring something Syria can never have enough of: experience. The veteran point guard has enjoyed a long professional career across Africa, Europe, Canada and West Asia, including a stint in the Qatar Basketball League and a season with Tunisian powerhouse US Monastir.

Syrian fans will be more than pleased to see this familiar face in action for their national team. In the 2025-26 season of FIBA WASL, Justice averaged 24.7 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 5.1 assists per game for Syrian Club Al Wahda SC.

At just 5-foot-10, Justice has always made his impact through speed, creativity and shot-making. His explosive presence could be particularly valuable for a Syrian side that battled its way into the Second Round and will now face an even higher level of competition against Australia and New Zealand.

Few returns would have a bigger potential impact than Kai Sotto’s. The 7-foot-1 center has already shown how much he can change a game for Gilas Pilipinas, most notably when he posted 19 points, 10 rebounds, 7 assists, a steal and two blocks against New Zealand in the Asia Cup 2025 Qualifiers. Sotto’s combination of size, skill and passing ability gives the Philippines a completely different dimension inside, especially as they will treat each game as a must-win. His return would provide a major boost as Gilas open their Second Round campaign on home soil against familiar foes Jordan and Iran.

Flynn Cameron is hardly a strange name to Tall Blacks fans, but his return remains one to watch, especially after his stint at the NBA Summer League. The versatile guard-forward has already established himself as an important piece of New Zealand’s national team, averaging 15.0 points, 4.0 rebounds and 4.0 assists at the FIBA Asia Cup 2025. He also made an immediate impact in the World Cup Qualifiers in late 2025, averaging 12.0 points and 4.5 assists in his first two games of the campaign. With his ability to create, score and facilitate from multiple positions, Cameron gives New Zealand another versatile weapon in their games against Iran and Syria.

Qatar will look to Oussama Abdenacer Arfa for additional size as they continue their preparations toward the World Cup next year on home soil. Listed at nearly 7 feet tall, the 26-year-old big man gives Qatar another imposing option in the frontcourt. His potential involvement would add much-needed frontline depth to a team that is continuing to build its senior program, with the hosts looking to turn their home-court advantage into meaningful progress in the Second Round.

Qatar’s future could be arriving faster than expected in the form of Abdulla Mousa. Still only 18, the young guard has already gained significant senior experience and has appeared in three games in the current World Cup Qualifiers. His youth résumé is even more impressive: Mousa averaged 20.8 points at the FIBA U18 Asia Cup 2024 and 20.3 points at the FIBA U16 Asian Championship 2023.

How about this though? In his second U18 Asia Cup which he played last week, he averaged more than 28.0 points per game. That was before stepping right back into action in friendly games with the senior national team – highlighted by a 15-point outing in a win over Saudi Arabi last Saturday.

Mousa is already juggling responsibilities between Qatar’s youth and senior teams, and another opportunity in Window 4 would accelerate the development of one of the country’s most exciting young prospects after missing out in Window 3.

New Delhi [India], August 18 (ANI): Tero Entertainment on Tuesday launched 3×3 Quest India 2026, backed by the Basketball Federation of India (BFI) and endorsed by FIBA, aiming to build a competitive pathway for young Indian basketball players while creating a sports-entertainment ecosystem around the fast-paced Olympic format.
The 3×3 Quest India 2026 will be held on September 12 and 13,, at DLF Promenade – Emporio in New Delhi. The event is organised by Tero Entertainment and Tero India, with support from FIBA, the Basketball Federation of India (BFI) and the Delhi Basketball Association (DBA).
On Tuesday, the press conference brought together leadership from Tero Entertainment alongside key stakeholders from India’s sports ecosystem, including representatives from FIBA, the Basketball Federation of India (BFI), and the Tero India team, to unveil the vision, format, and roadmap for 3×3 India. The event also featured the official unveiling of the 3×3 Quest India 2026 trophy and jersey.
Unlike traditional five-on-five basketball, 3×3 is played on a half-court with a relentless 12-second shot clock. Games last just 10 minutes or end the moment a team hits 21 points. It’s a fast-paced, action-packed, constantly moving high-energy game designed around skill and technique.
With DJs spinning throughout FIBA 3×3 events and fans sitting right on the baseline, the sport naturally blends elite athleticism with street culture. Since its Olympic debut at Tokyo 2020, 3×3 has rapidly evolved. It captivated audiences at Paris 2024, is set to expand from eight to 12 teams at the Los Angeles 2028 Games, and remains a staple of the Commonwealth Games.

For Tero Entertainment, this unique intersection makes India the ultimate launchpad.
Brian L. Marcar, Managing Director & Founder, Tero Entertainment, during the event said, “India represents one of the biggest opportunities for 3×3 anywhere in the world. India has an incredibly young population, an enormous appetite for sport, and a generation discovering culture, engagement and entertainment in entirely new formats. What attracted us to 3×3 is that the competition is just the heartbeat; around it, you have music, creators, and an atmosphere people want to be part of. That intersection of sport and entertainment is something Tero understands deeply. For decades, we have created experiences across sports, international music, television, and entertainment. We believe India has the potential to become one of the great 3×3 markets globally, and Quest India is where that journey begins,” the release said.
Building from the ground up, Chandrakant Singh, MD & CEO, Tero India, said, “Our ambition is to build 3×3 in India from the grassroots level. That means creating more opportunities for young players to discover the game, compete regularly and develop through a clear progression of competitive events. At the same time, players need to see where that journey can lead. At the highest level, 3×3 connects to elite international competitions and the global 3×3 circuit. We want to help build bridges to those levels, so a young player can discover the game locally and climb to a much bigger horizon.”
Tom Siwannamai, 3×3 Sports Presentation Manager, FIBA, said, “FIBA and Tero share a strong vision for the growth of 3×3. Tero has proven experience delivering international 3×3 events, and we are pleased to support their entry into India alongside BFI. Together, we can create a strong platform for the sport’s long-term growth.”
3×3 Quest India 2026 marks the first step in Tero’s longer-term vision for the sport in India. Beginning in Delhi, the ambition is to expand participation, create more high-level competitive opportunities and build a platform that connects Indian players and teams with the wider global 3×3 ecosystem. The goal is not simply to stage a successful first event but to help establish India as an important part of the future of 3×3.
3×3 Quest India 2026 will see multiple teams compete over two days, with matches run in a knockout format building to quarter-finals, semi-finals, and a final. The winning team will earn the opportunity to compete at the FIBA 3×3 World Series in Mongolia, giving Indian players their first access to official FIBA ranking points. Tero Entertainment is specifically launching with Quest, a FIBA-sanctioned competition, so that participation and performance translate into international ranking recognition for the players, a pathway currently unavailable to most Indian 3×3 players, who have largely competed only in domestic, unranked formats.
Further details on participating teams, competition format, entertainment programming and fan access will be announced ahead of the event. (ANI)
