Giessmann was at the heart of Baskets Bonn’s perfect run in Lausanne, helping the German side sweep their pool games before powering through the knockout phase and defeating Raudondvaris Hoptrans (LTU) in the Final to lift the trophy.

The big man was simply unstoppable throughout the weekend, finishing with a tournament-best 51 points and 59.2 player value, while also ranking first with 15 dunks and third with 20 highlights.

One of his biggest statements came on Day 1, when Giessmann scored the final three points to seal a dramatic 21-19 victory over Ulaanbaatar MMC Energy (MGL) before following it up with 12 points against Utrecht (NED) to help Baskets Bonn sweep Pool D.

Giessmann’s MVP performance capped a memorable Lausanne campaign for Baskets Bonn, who now have two World Tour titles in 2026 after previously triumphing at WT Amsterdam.

LAUSANNE (Switzerland) – The FIBA 3×3 World Tour 2026 returned from its five-week mid-season break with another dose of drama in iconic Lausanne, where Baskets Bonn (GER) claimed their second World Tour title of the season and Fabian Giessmann collected another MVP award.

The ninth WT stop of the FIBA 3×3 2026 Pro Circuit delivered plenty of clues for what promises to be a fascinating run to the World Tour Final in December. From Bonn’s continued rise to Liman’s unprecedented early exit, here’s what we learned in Lausanne.

Baskets Bonn are a serious force

The early-season surprise is starting to look less like a surprise. Baskets Bonn followed up their breakthrough triumph at WT Amsterdam 2026 by winning again in Lausanne, making them one of only three teams to have captured multiple FIBA 3×3 World Tour stops this season alongside Liman (SRB) and Ub (SRB).

The German side were particularly impressive in Lausanne, going unbeaten through pool play before navigating the knockout rounds and defeating Bordeaux (FRA) in the Final.

This is no longer simply a young team capable of making noise. Baskets Bonn have now proven they can consistently win at the highest level of the Pro Circuit.

And with eight World Tour stops still to come before the Final in Rio de Janeiro, they have every reason to believe there is more proverbial silverware ahead.

Giessmann as World Tour superstar

If Lausanne confirmed anything, it is that Fabian Giessmann is rapidly becoming one of the biggest stars on the circuit.

The Baskets Bonn standout was named MVP for the second time this season after another sensational tournament, following his MVP performance during the team’s Amsterdam title run. As such, this kid can no longer be considered a rising star — he has already proven he’s among the elite of the elite.

In Lausanne, Giessmann finished with a tournament-best 51 points and 59.2 player value, while also leading the field with 15 dunks and ranking third with 20 highlights.

One of his most memorable moments came on Day 1, when he scored the final three points to seal a dramatic 21-19 victory over Ulaanbaatar MMC Energy (MGL). He then added 12 points against Utrecht (NED) as Bonn swept Pool D.

Two World Tour titles. Two MVP awards. At just 22 years old, Giessmann is already one of the players to watch for the remainder of the season.

Liman hit a roadblock

The No. 1 seed entered Lausanne with plenty of momentum, but their tournament ended before the knockout phase even began. Liman suffered back-to-back pool defeats against Cibona Ph.Classic (CRO) and Valencia Basket (ESP), making an early exit in one of the biggest shocks of the season.

More significantly, it was the first time in 2026 that Liman failed to advance to the Quarter-Finals at either a World Tour or Challenger stop. That is a remarkable run of consistency coming to an end.

Of course, Liman have already won two World Tour stops this season and remain firmly among the leading contenders. One difficult weekend should not erase what has been an excellent campaign. Still, Lausanne served as a reminder that even the most reliable teams can be vulnerable in the increasingly deep 3×3 basketball field.

Six different World Tour winners

Parity has become one of the defining characteristics of the 2026 season. Through the first nine World Tour stops, six different teams have captured titles: Liman, Ub, Baskets Bonn, Miami (USA), Hangzhou Jingwei (CHN) and Amsterdam RABOBANK (NED).

Three of those teams — Liman, Ub and Baskets Bonn — have won twice, but nobody has been able to completely dominate the circuit. That leaves plenty of room for another team to break through.

Skyliners (GER), Shanghai (CHN), Ulaanbaatar MMC Energy, Antwerp (BEL), DeQing (CHN) and Raudondvaris Hoptrans (LTU) are among the established names still searching for their first FIBA 3×3 World Tour title of the year. With the field becoming deeper and the margins increasingly smaller, the second half of the season could produce even more new champions.

Wide open second half

Lausanne was more than just another FIBA 3×3 World Tour stop. It marked the beginning of the second half of the 2026 season after a five-week mid-season break.

With nine stops now complete, there are eight World Tour stops remaining before the Pro Circuit culminates at the FIBA 3×3 World Tour Final 2026 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on December 12-13.

That leaves plenty of time for the current contenders to build momentum, for established teams to recover from setbacks and for new challengers to make their move.

Baskets Bonn have made their statement. Liman have shown they can be beaten. And the list of champions and contenders suggests there is no clear runaway favorite.

The second half of the World Tour is wide open, and that might be the most exciting thing we learned in Lausanne.

LAUSANNE (Switzerland) – 3×3 fans can now purchase tickets for the upcoming FIBA 3×3 World Tour Lausanne, which will take place on August 14-15.

For the 13th time, the 3×3 World Tour will take place in the Olympic Capital, on the Place de la Navigation right by the iconic Lake Léman. It will feature some of the best teams in the World including Olympic medalists and World Tour Winners and World Cup champions.

The WT Lausanne will be held over 2 days and 4 total sessions.

LAUSANNE (Switzerland) – Day 1 of the FIBA 3×3 World Tour Lausanne 2026 delivered plenty of excitement as the pool phase concluded and the Quarter-Final matchups were locked in at the Place de la Navigation.

World Tour Amsterdam winners Baskets Bonn impressed on Day 1 with two wins in pool play against Ulaanbaatar MMC Energy (21-19) and Utrecht (20-17), with a dramatic finish against the Mongolians in overtime, which Fabian Giessmann clinched from the 2-point line.

There were plenty of surprises in Pool A as well, with Liman being eliminated after defeats against Valencia Basket (20-19) and Cibona Ph. Classic (16-21). The Croatians would advance after beating Valencia Basket in the last game of the day.

Raudondvaris Hoptrans didn’t give its rivals a chance in Pool C and dominated from the start, beating Vienna (21-16) and Shibuya (21-19). The Austrians would advance after beating the Japanese team 21-17.

Last but not least, Pool B broke the hearts of the local fans, as Lausanne was eliminated in overtime against Bordeaux (17-15), who advanced in second place. Antwerp topped the pool with wins against both teams.

Quarter-Finals set

The stage is now set for an exciting knockout phase:

LAUSANNE (Switzerland) – One of the FIBA 3×3 World Tour’s longest-running stops is back. Lausanne is ready to welcome the world’s best 3×3 basketball players for the 13th edition of the event on August 14-15.

With a loaded field, a familiar lakeside setting and plenty of unfinished business among the contenders, the stage is set for another memorable weekend in the Olympic Capital.

Here’s everything you need to know before the action gets underway.

Where is the event?

The FIBA 3×3 World Tour Lausanne 2026 will take place at Place de la Navigation, in the Ouchy district on the shores of Lake Geneva.

Ouchy is one of Lausanne’s most popular lakeside areas, known for its waterfront promenades, parks, gardens and views across Lake Geneva. It also puts the FIBA 3×3 World Tour close to another defining part of the city’s identity: its connection to the Olympic Movement.

Lausanne has been known as the Olympic Capital since 1994 and has been home to the International Olympic Committee since 1915. The Olympic Museum and Olympic Park are also located nearby, making Lausanne a natural setting for one of 3×3 basketball’s biggest international competitions.

When is it?

The action takes place across Friday, August 14 and Saturday, August 15.

Friday, August 14: Qualifying Draw & Pool Games

Saturday, August 15: World Tour Finals

The competition will build from the opening qualifying games and pool battles on Friday toward the knockout stages and title decider on Saturday.

Who are the teams?

Fourteen teams are set to compete in Lausanne, with some of the biggest names on the FIBA 3×3 World Tour joined by the hometown Lausanne side and international challengers from across the globe.

Liman (SRB) arrive as the No. 1 seed after a strong run of form, while Antwerp (BEL) are seeded second and Raudondvaris Hoptrans (LTU) third.

The top four are completed by Ulaanbaatar MMC Energy (MGL), with Baskets Bonn (GER), Vienna (AUT), Bordeaux (FRA) and Valencia Basket (ESP) rounding out the top eight.

How does the competition work?

The Lausanne field features 14 teams, with three teams entering the Qualifying Draw for one place in the Main Draw.

The Qualifying Draw winner joins the 12 directly seeded teams in the pool phase, where the 13 teams are divided into four pools of three.

Teams will battle within their respective pools, with the top two teams from each pool advancing to the Quarter-Finals.

From there, it’s win-or-go-home.

The Quarter-Finals lead into the Semi-Finals and ultimately the Final, where one team will be crowned the FIBA 3×3 World Tour Lausanne 2026 champion.

With a short, intense format and every possession carrying greater weight as the weekend progresses, there is little room for error.

Who won last year?

Ub (SRB) were crowned champions in WT Lausanne 2025, defeating Miami (USA) in the Final. Lugano HANDONG (SUI) completed the podium in third place.

Ub’s victory continued the strong Serbian presence in Lausanne, with the city having also hosted title runs from Novi Sad and other Serbian teams throughout its World Tour history.

The 2026 field will now look to add their names to a roll of honor that stretches back more than a decade.

Which players should you watch?

There will be plenty of star power on show, but several players arrive in Lausanne with particularly compelling storylines.

Stefan Milivojevic (Liman) enters after helping Liman win the FIBA 3×3 Darkhan Challenger 2026, where he was also named MVP. As the No. 1 seed, Liman will expect him to bring that form to the World Tour stage.

Jonaes Foerts (Antwerp) has already led Antwerp to a Challenger title in Batam City, but the team is still looking for their first World Tour stop win of the season. After seventh-place finishes in Hanchuan and Uenohara, Lausanne presents an opportunity to reset.

Evaldas Džiaugys (Raudondvaris Hoptrans) will be looking to take the next step after Raudondvaris finished runner-up at WT Marseille 2026. Fresh off a third-place finish at the FISE Birmingham Challenger, he could be central to their title push.

Nauris Miezis (Ulaanbaatar MMC Energy) remains one of 3×3 basketball’s most recognizable stars and is still chasing his first World Tour stop victory of the season. Lausanne marks his third FIBA 3×3 WT appearance of the campaign.

Denzel Agyeman (Baskets Bonn) already knows what it takes to win on the World Tour after helping Baskets Bonn capture WT Amsterdam 2026. He will be looking to help the German side bounce back from an eighth-place finish at FISE Birmingham.

Nico Kaltenbrunner (Vienna) arrives with a recent 3×3 Tour Austria Final title, but Vienna are still searching for a breakthrough on the Pro Circuit. They have yet to finish higher than third at a Challenger or World Tour stop this season.

Alex Vialaret (Bordeaux) brings valuable FIBA 3×3 World Cup experience and the versatility to impact the game both from the perimeter and around the basket. His all-around game could be important for Bordeaux’s title ambitions.

Iván Aurrecoechea (Valencia Basket) will provide a physical presence in the middle as Valencia make their first World Tour appearance of the season. If he can control the paint and create second-chance opportunities, Valencia could be a dangerous opponent.

Why does Lausanne matter?

There is plenty of history behind this stop. The 2026 edition marks Lausanne’s 13th time hosting a FIBA 3×3 World Tour event, making it one of the competition’s most established destinations.

The stop’s history dates back to 2013, when Kranj (SLO) won the inaugural Lausanne event. Since then, the city has welcomed some of 3×3’s most successful teams, including Novi Sad (SRB), Ub, Liman, Antwerp, Paris (FRA) and NY Harlem (USA).

Lausanne has also developed a strong connection with the local game. Home teams have repeatedly made deep runs, with Lausanne finishing runner-up in both 2022 and 2023.

Now, with the city once again serving as a meeting point for elite 3×3 basketball and the Olympic Movement, Lausanne remains a fitting stage for the world’s best.

Liman (SRB) enter Lausanne as the No. 1 seed, leading a field packed with established World Tour contenders and ambitious challengers. Antwerp (BEL) are seeded second, followed by Raudondvaris Hoptrans (LTU), Ulaanbaatar MMC Energy (MGL) and Baskets Bonn (GER) to round out the top five.

The draw has produced four intriguing pools, with plenty of firepower spread across the groups.

Pool A brings together top seed Liman, Valencia Basket and Cibona Ph.Classic. Liman, who are the No. 2 team in the World Tour 2026 standings, will enter as the favorite on paper, but Valencia and Cibona have the quality to make the Serbian powerhouse work for every possession.

Pool B sees No. 2 seed Antwerp joined by Bordeaux and Lausanne. The home side will have the crowd behind them as they take on two proven European programs, making this one of the pools to watch from the opening check.

Pool C features Raudondvaris Hoptrans, Vienna and Shibuya. The Lithuanian side hold the highest seed in the group, but Vienna’s experience and Shibuya’s ability to bring a different style to the court could make for some tightly contested battles.

HANCHUAN (China) – Lausanne (SUI) produced a sensational Sunday performance to capture the inaugural FIBA 3×3 Hanchuan Challenger 2026, defeating Skyliners (GER) 22-14 in the Final at the picturesque Tianyu Lake Scenic Area.

After emerging from Pool A despite an opening-day loss to Lausanne, Skyliners looked poised for revenge in the Final. Instead, the Swiss side delivered another clinical display behind MVP Natan Jurkovitz and Jonathan Kazadi to finish an unforgettable weekend in style.

The Winner

Lausanne enjoyed an opening victory over Princeton to tip off the tournament’s most impressive run. After upsetting fourth-ranked Skyliners in pool play, the Swiss side carried that momentum into the Final.

Kazadi starred in a convincing 21-14 Quarter-Final victory over Valencia Basket (ESP) before Lausanne produced one of the performances of the tournament in the Semi-Finals. Kazadi poured in 10 points as Lausanne buried seven two-pointers to overwhelm home favorites Shanghai (CHN) 22-10, ending the contest with more than four minutes remaining.

The Final followed a similar script. Lausanne stormed to a quick start before extending the margin to 17-9 midway through the contest through crisp ball movement and efficient shooting. Skyliners never found an answer as Lausanne sealed their first Challenger stop win of the 2026 season.

Jurkovitz was deservedly named tournament MVP after stuffing the stat sheet throughout the weekend. He finished first in rebounds (30), offensive rebounds (16), dunks (6) and double-fives (2), while ranking among the tournament leaders in player value (42.2) and one-point field goals made.

The Runner-up

Skyliners once again demonstrated why they have been among the Pro Circuit’s most consistent teams this season.

Stefan Kojic made an immediate impact in his return from several weeks of rest, helping the German side defeat Princeton before finishing as the tournament’s leading scorer with 36 points. After falling to Lausanne in pool play, Skyliners bounced back by eliminating Raudondvaris Hoptrans (LTU) in the Quarter-Finals before Kojic erupted for 14 points to inspire a comeback victory over Taipei WanBao (TPE) in the Semi-Finals.

Although they were unable to avenge their earlier defeat against Lausanne, Skyliners left Hanchuan with another podium finish and a well-earned FIBA 3×3 World Tour qualification.

The Final

The title game quickly turned into a showcase for Lausanne’s relentless pace and execution.

The Swiss side raced to an early 9-3 lead and never allowed Skyliners to establish any rhythm offensively. Every German rally was answered by timely baskets as Lausanne consistently found quality looks inside and beyond the arc.

Thomas Jurkovitz contributed seven points in the Final, while Kazadi and the rest of the Swiss attack maintained constant pressure. Titouan Vannay fittingly delivered the Final blow with the decisive two-pointer as Lausanne wrapped up a commanding 22-14 victory.

The Reward

Lausanne, Skyliners and Taipei WanBao were rewarded for their impressive performances in Hanchuan by securing qualification to the FIBA 3×3 World Tour TBC 2026 stop, keeping their Pro Circuit momentum alive heading into the latter stages of the season.
