SANSAR (Mongolia) – The race for the FIBA 3×3 World Tour returns to Mongolia as the FIBA 3×3 Sansar Challenger 2026 brings a loaded international field to the National Amusement Park in Sukhbaatar District on September 5-6, with three tickets to FIBA 3×3 World Tour Deqing 2026 on the line. As the 22nd Challenger of the season, Sansar represents another crucial opportunity for teams to turn a strong weekend into a place on the sport’s biggest stage.

Teams turn up

The field features several of the highest-ranked teams in the 2026 season standings, setting up a blockbuster battle in Mongolia.

Liman (SRB) headline the field as the No. 2 team overall this season. The Serbian powerhouse have consistently challenged for titles throughout the campaign and will look to add another major result to their impressive resume.

Amsterdam RABOBANK (NED), ranked third overall, arrive as another major threat after establishing themselves as one of the most consistent teams on the circuit. Amsterdam bring veteran star Worthy de Jong, whose experience and creativity make him one of the most recognizable players in the field.

Home fans will have plenty to cheer about as Ulaanbaatar feature Nauris Miezis, one of the most accomplished players in the global 3×3 basketball scene. Hangzhou will look to Vuk Borovićanin, while Lausanne will lean on the talents of Titouan Vannay.

DEBRECEN (Hungary) – The FIBA 3×3 Women’s Series 2026 heads to Hungary on August 27-28, with a loaded 12-team field set to battle in Debrecen.

Leading the way are top seeds Netherlands (NED), who arrive as one of the benchmark teams of the 2026 season. The Dutch have already captured five FIBA 3×3 Women’s Series stop wins this year, including their last four stops, and will once again be led by Ilse Kuijt as they look to add another winner’s banner to their collection.

Players to Watch

Kuijt has been on a roll for Netherlands throughout the 2026 season, helping the team win four of their five Women’s Series stops while also earning tournament MVP honors twice. She will look to maintain that form in Debrecen, where the Netherlands open their campaign in Pool A against Czechia (CZE) and hosts Hungary (HUN).

Rapid Bucharest (ROU) enter as the No. 2 seed and will be looking to build further momentum behind Hortense Limouzin. The French star has been one of the standout performers on the circuit this season, helping Rapid capture two Women’s Series stop titles and secure outright qualification to the FIBA 3×3 Women’s Series Project Redwings Shanghai Final 2026. A strong showing in Debrecen would give Rapid another chance to build confidence before heading to Shanghai.

Rapid Bucharest face the United States (USA) and Ukraine (UKR) in Pool B, setting up an intriguing group. The Americans, seeded seventh, have already shown their quality this season, with Mikayla Blakes featuring for USA at WS Tokyo and WS Bordeaux, where they finished third. Blakes will be looking to lead the Americans to their third Women’s Series stop title of the season.

Third seeds Amsterdam (NED) also arrive with plenty of firepower. Liselot Kulk is fresh from helping Netherlands win two stops at the FIBA 3×3 Youth Nations League 2026 Europe-3 leg and will be looking to carry that strong form into the Women’s Series. Amsterdam will begin their Debrecen campaign in Pool C alongside sixth seeds Chile (CHI) and Lille Loko (FRA).

Speaking of Chile, they have gained valuable experience across the Women’s Series this season, recently competing at stops in Caceres, Baku and Bordeaux. Fernanda Ovalle will be one to watch after also helping Chile perform strongly at the FIBA 3×3 Youth Nations League 2026 Americas North leg last month. With that momentum behind them, Chile could prove dangerous in Pool C.

Fourth seeds Beijing (CHN) headline Pool D and surely want to turn their consistent performances into a first Women’s Series stop title of the season. Zhang ZhiTing has been among the circuit’s top 10 scorers and will once again be the focal point for Beijing as they take on Spain (ESP) and host side Debrecen (HUN).

Spain enter as the No. 5 seed and arrive in Debrecen fresh from a major confidence boost. The Spanish side captured their second Women’s Series stop title of the season at WS Bordeaux, with Helena Oma named tournament MVP after helping Spain defeat France in the Final.

Oma will now look to carry that momentum into Debrecen as Spain face Beijing and hosts Debrecen in Pool D. The home side will have the backing of the local crowd as they look to make their mark against two of the tournament’s leading contenders.

Basketball Australia has unveiled their under 23’s teams for the FIBA 3×3 Youth Nations League 2026 – Asia West/Pacific, with Adelaide’s Tayla Brazel and Townsville’s Catelyn Van Es headlining the women’s side.

Joining the duo in the team from the August 20-26 event in Singapore are former Sydney Flame Carla Pitman and the University of California’s Lulu Twidale.

Australia will face hosts Singapore, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Turkmenistan across six stops, with every result counting towards the final Asia West/Pacific standings. A strong week in Singapore could punch Australia’s ticket to the world stage, with qualification for next month’s FIBA 3×3 Under-23 World Cup in Hubei, China, on the line.

Brazel has already caught the eye in the 3×3 space, earning an invitation to the senior Gangurrus camp in Cairns earlier this year, while Pitman will arrive in Singapore fresh off Defensive Player of the Year honours with Mount Gambier in NBL1 South.

For Van Es, Singapore is the latest opportunity in a big 12 months, with the 20-year-old recently securing a second season as a Development Player with reigning WNBL champions Townsville Fire.

Twidale arrives off a career-best season with the University of California, averaging 16.2 points per game and earning All-ACC Second Team honours while setting a new program single-season record with 101 three-pointers.

All the action gets underway on Thursday, with both the women’s and men’s, featuring Devan Craig, Keegan Phillips, Griffin Biwer and Will Mahoney, Australian teams, in Pool B for the opening stop.

The women open their campaign against Qatar at 5.30pm AEST before taking on Turkmenistan at 9.10pm, while the men face the same opponents at 7.45pm and 9.35pm, respectively.

A month after the Gilas Pilipinas Under-21 Boys clinched a spot in the FIBA 3×3 Under-23 World Cup, it’s now the Under-23 team’s turn to make its mark as the Philippines competes in the Asia SEA Conference of the FIBA 3×3 Youth Nations League.

The tournament runs from August 17 to 23 in Petaling Jaya, Malaysia.

The men’s team will field a stacked lineup headlined by La Salle stalwarts Luis Pablo and Doy Dungo, both members of the reigning UAAP 3×3 champions.

They will be joined by Ateneo’s Shawn Tuano and Andrew Bongo, whom they faced in the UAAP 3×3 final. Tuano and Bongo missed the Blue Eagles’ Pinoyliga Big Dance game against the Fatima Phoenix earlier in the day.

Rounding out the squad are former UE Red Warrior Wello Lingolingo and former Green Archer Rhyle Melencio.

Meanwhile, the Gilas Women are also looking to punch their ticket to the World Cup.

The women’s team is composed of FEU’s Amyah Espano and Victoria Pasilang, UP’s Kennan Ka and Marielle Vingno, and Adamson’s Jam Meniano.

Both Philippine teams will face New Zealand, Malaysia, Chinese Taipei, Thailand, and Vietnam in the conference.

UTSUNOMIYA (Japan) – The official seeding has been confirmed for the FIBA 3×3 World Tour Utsunomiya Opener 2026, taking place on April 25-26.

A total of 14 teams will compete in one of 3×3 basketball’s most established stops, with a mix of FIBA 3×3 World Tour contenders, rising teams and local challengers aiming to start the season strong.

Ub lead the chase

Powerhouse Ub SRB enter as the No. 1 seed and will again be the team to beat, led by Nenad Nerandžić, one of the most reliable performers on the circuit.

They are followed by Miami USA at No. 2, with Henry Caruso anchoring a team that returns to Utsunomiya after opening last year’s season with a title run here.

Paris 2024 champions Amsterdam RABOBANK NED are seeded third, with Worthy de Jong bringing experience and playmaking to the half-court, while another Serbian side, Liman SRB, complete the top four behind the shot-making of Andreja Milutinovic.

Deep field across continents

The middle seeds feature a balanced mix of established contenders and emerging teams.

Raudondvaris Hoptrans LTU come in at No. 5, headlined by the inside presence of Aurelijus Pukelis, while Shanghai CHN at No. 6 rely on the scoring ability of Cameron Forte.
