MANILA, Philippines — Manila Gilas missed the Fiba 3×3 Women’s Series Singapore 2026 Main Draw after falling to Brazil, 21-8, in its final qualifying game Thursday at Scape 2 Orchard Link.

Kaye Pingol, Camille Malagar, Lee Sario and Samantha Harada couldn’t contain Brazil inside, while Vitoria Moura made things worse for Manila Gilas by hitting four deuces to finish with nine points.

Gabi Guimaraes added seven points as Brazil swept its two qualifying games, including a 21-7 win over Vietnam, to join Thailand and Beijing in Pool D of the main draw.

Moura hit three straight deuces to mount a 14-4 lead with 7:06 remaining before adding another to put Brazil on the verge of victory, 20-8. Guimaraes then sealed the win with 4:48 left.

The Manila Gilas players scored two points each against Brazil.

Earlier, Gilas took down Vietnam, 15-9, behind the duo of Pingol and Malagar.

Pingol, who also designs the plays for the team, led the way with six points. Malagar had five, while Sario added four.

Malagar blocked a Vietnamese shot and hit a deuce to give Gilas a 9-4 lead with 3:46 remaining before Vietnam cut the deficit to 10-7.

Pingol then put the game away with a layup after Vietnam committed its eighth foul, leading to three straight points for the Gilas guard for a 14-7 lead with 1:06 to play.

WARSAW, Poland — Canada’s run at the FIBA 3×3 World Cup ended earlier than expected after the women’s national team failed to advance out of pool play in Warsaw, Poland.

Canada finished fourth in Pool D with a 2-2 record, behind Ukraine, France and Lithuania. The result marks a disappointing finish for the fifth-seeded Canadians, who entered the tournament looking to build on last year’s bronze medal at the World Cup and the program’s strong start to the 2026 FIBA 3×3 Women’s Series season.

Canada opened pool play with a narrow 19-17 loss to Lithuania on June 2. Paige Crozon led Canada with eight points, while World Cup debutant Tara Wallack added five and Katherine Plouffe finished with four. The Canadians stayed within reach throughout the game, but Lithuania made enough plays late to hand Canada an early setback in a pool that quickly became one of the most tightly contested groups in the tournament.

Canada responded later that day with a 14-11 win over Ukraine, tightening up defensively and holding Ukraine to 11 points. The win moved Canada back to .500 through two games and kept the team in position to advance heading into its final day of pool play.

The Canadians opened June 4 with a 14-11 win over Japan, a result that briefly put them in control of their knockout-round hopes. Kacie Bosch led the way with a strong two-way performance, finishing with five points while providing the defensive pressure and playmaking Canada needed in a low-scoring game.

But Canada could not close out pool play, falling 16-12 to France in its final game. The loss dropped Canada to 2-2 and left the Canadians on the wrong side of the Pool D standings after tiebreakers, with Ukraine, France and Lithuania finishing ahead of them.

Canada’s early exit comes after a strong opening to the 2026 season. The program won the FIBA 3×3 Women’s Series stop in Shanghai in May, going undefeated and defeating Amsterdam 19-17 in overtime in the final.

Canada will now turn its attention back to the Women’s Series, with the team scheduled to compete at the Vienna stop in Austria from June 12-14.
