ANTWERP (Belgium) – The German men and women handle business in pool play, going unbeaten on Day 1 of the FIBA 3×3 Europe Cup Crelan 2026 on September 11. 

TEAMS

GERMANY (men)

With the year they’ve had so far, all eyes were on the young German side to impress at the European stage. With expectations high, Germany showed up and showed out. 

They started out with a statement win against a contending side in France. The dynamic duo of Denzel Agyeman and Fabian Giessmann combined for 14 points in a 21 – 15 victory, bookended by a thunderous jam from Sidi Beikame to seal things in style. 

A more physical battle followed against Estonia, a combined 20 fouls between the two sides to show for it, but it was once again the German side that took the win. The aforementioned duo caught fire offensively once again, combining for a whopping 16 points to lead their side to victory. Germany sealed the top spot in their pool, going through to the knockout rounds alongside France. The Netherlands and Spain also sealed their knockout spots. 

GERMANY (women)

The German women came out swinging and never let up, finishing with a perfect 2-0 record to secure their spot into the knockout rounds.

They started with a comfortable 14 – 8 victory over home side Belgium in what was a defensive masterclass. Laura Zolper led her side in scoring with 5 points. The standout moment for them came in their second clash of the day. They took on Poland and found themselves on the back foot early on. The opposition hit their stride and assumed a hefty lead, one that ballooned up to a 7-point difference. 

Germany never let up and kept answering back offensively while relying on their defensive prowess to lock down Poland. The tides turned completely in their favor and in what was a 8-1 deficit turned into a 21 – 15 victory for Germany. Marie Reichert led her side in scoring with 9 points as they now get set for knockout action with momentum on their side. 

Alongside them were Slovenia, Spain and Belgium who also earned their place into the Quarter-Finals.

FABIAN GIESSMANN (Men)

There seems to be no stopping the German star. He was dominant on both sides of the game once again, putting up team-high points in both their wins while also locking down defensively. 

He scored 8 points in a big-time win over France before following it up with 9 points against Estonia. He was all business in pool phase and is locked in ahead of the knockout rounds on Day 3. 

TXELL ALARCÓN (women)

Spain went unbeaten in pool action, and at the helm of it was the dynamic youngster Txell Alarcón. 

She went off in their opening game against Slovenia, putting up a team-high 9 points. She added another 5 points to her tally in another victory, this time against Hungary to close out their pool run. Alarcón is in the zone as Spain look to make waves on Day 3.

ANTWERP (Belgium) – Latvia (men) and the Netherlands (women) impress in pool play with perfect displays on Day 2 of the FIBA 3×3 Europe Cup Crelan 2026 on September 12. 

Teams

Latvia (men)

The reigning world champs have their sights set on an international double, and their pool phase performance showed they have what it takes to make it happen. 

They went toe-to-toe against Ireland in their opening game. While they had to stave off Ireland’s barrage from beyond the two-point line, Latvia emerged victorious 21 – 16. Kristaps Gluditis went on a scoring tear, putting up 11 points, including 4 two-pointers of his own to earn them the win.

Their second matchup in pool phase would be a rematch of the 2025 Europe Cup Final. They would take on current European champions Lithuania in a hotly contested battle. Though back-and-forth for most of the games proceedings, it was Latvia who held on at the end, sealing a 22 – 16 victory to finish pool phase with a 2-0 record. 

Serbia also managed to finish perfect in pool action with wins over Switzerland and Belgium to seal their knockout phase spot. Also joining them would be Belgium and Lithuania who earned their place into the final 16. 

Netherlands (women)

The reigning European winners showcased just what they do best in pool phase – win. The Dutch, arguably one of the most on-form sides in 3×3, came out swinging on Day 2, earning two dominant wins to seal their quarter-final spot. 

Their opener was a marquee matchup against Azerbaijan which saw the Dutch showcase their surgical selves, grinding down their opposition while sticking to their offensive gameplan to come away with a 21 – 12 win. Noortje Driessen stole the spotlight with her historic performance. She put up 13 points, tying the single-game record for most points scored by a women’s player in Europe Cup history. 

It was a similar tale in their second game of the day against Ukraine. It was yet another physical battle and once again, the Netherlands got the job done with a 19 – 14 victory. Noortje Driessen and Ilse Kuijt both put up 8 points to lead the way for the Dutch.  

Azerbaijan, France and Czechia also earned their spot into the knockout rounds on the day.

Kristaps Gluditis (Men)

When Latvia needed buckets, Kristaps Gluditis answered the call every single time.

He put up double digit points in their opener, an 11-point game in their win against Ireland before following it up with a team-high 9 points in a huge win over Lithuania. His efficient scoring from both inside and outside made him an unstoppable force for Latvia on the day and a crucial piece in their bid for the European title in Antwerp.

Noortje Driessen (Women)

It was a day to remember for Noortje Driessen who put up historic numbers for the Dutch in their perfect pool run. 

In their opening tie against a contending Azerbaijan, Driessen put up 13 points, a single-game record for most points scored by a women’s player in Europe Cup history. She chipped in with another joint-high 8 points in their 19 – 14 win against Ukraine, showing just why she’s 3×3’s premier star. 

Her hot start in Antwerp bodes well for the Dutch as they get set to defend their title in the knockout phase tomorrow.

ANTWERP (Belgium) – Spain men arrived at the FIBA 3×3 Europe Cup Crelan 2026 with a renewed squad and something to prove after a disappointing FIBA 3×3 World Cup 2026 campaign. On Day 1 in Antwerp, they delivered the perfect response: two wins, including victories over Italy and the Netherlands.

For Diego De Blas, however, the results were only part of the story.

“Both games were very challenging, and that’s exactly what we expected coming into the tournament,” De Blas said. “We did a great job defensively in both matchups, which was key to getting the wins.”

Spain’s defense provided the platform for a pair of significant results against two established 3×3 basketball programs. Rather than relying on individual brilliance, the team leaned on their collective approach. That’s an important sign for a group that have undergone a period of renewal. That chemistry, of course, has not happened by accident.

“We have been practicing for this event together. We all know each other well, which helps create strong chemistry on the court,” De Blas said.

That familiarity was evident on Day 1 as Spain handled two demanding games and remained composed when the margins tightened. Their approach is deliberately straightforward: take each game as it comes and maintain the same level of preparation and intensity.

“Our approach is simple,” De Blas explained. “Take it game by game, stay focused and be ready to compete at our highest level every time we step onto the court.”

There is also a deeper motivation behind Spain’s campaign. The team entered Antwerp after the disappointment of the FIBA 3×3 World Cup 2026 in Warsaw, where they were unable to defend the world title they won in 2025. For De Blas, that result provided motivation, but he explained that it was not a reason to abandon the process that brought Spain success in the first place.

“Of course it did,” he said when asked whether Warsaw provided extra motivation. “It’s always easier when everything is going your way, but the most important thing is to keep doing the same work regardless of the results.”

That mentality has seemingly carried into Antwerp. Spain’s new-look group have already shown they can compete with two of the tournament’s strongest teams, but De Blas is not looking beyond the next challenge. The objective remains to keep improving, stay committed to the process and bring their best game every time they step onto the court.

Day 1 could hardly have gone better. Now Spain have to prove it was only the beginning. They next face France in the Quarter-Finals.

SHANGHAI (China) – Rapid Bucharest (ROU) went perfect in Pool B, while France (FRA), Netherlands (NED) and Neftchi SOCAR (NEF) all finished 2-1 in a dramatic three-way tie atop Pool A on Day 1 of the FIBA 3×3 Women’s Series Project Redwings Shanghai Final 2026.

Rapid swept Pool B to earn a direct place in Sunday’s Semi-Finals, while France claimed first place in Pool A on total points ahead of Netherlands and Neftchi. Ulaanbaatar Amazons (MGL) and Netherlands will face Quarter-Final tests on Sunday, with Beijing (CHN) also advancing from Pool B.

Rapid Bucharest sweep Pool B

Rapid Bucharest were the standout team in Pool B, overcoming China, Ulaanbaatar Amazons and Beijing to finish the day with a perfect 3-0 record.

Their opening game was a thriller. China appeared to have control for much of the contest, leading 15-11 with two minutes remaining. But Rapid mounted a stunning late comeback, taking a 16-15 lead inside the final minute before holding on for a 17-16 victory. Hortense Limouzin led the way with 8 points as Rapid survived the dramatic finish.

The Romanian side then turned up the pressure against Ulaanbaatar, racing into a 12-5 lead before pulling away for a commanding 21-7 win. Martyna Petrenaite led Rapid with 8 points.

Their final pool game against Beijing was another battle. Beijing were reduced to three players after Wang Xuemeng suffered an injury in their previous game, but continued to fight against the unbeaten Rapid. Beijing stayed within striking distance throughout before Rapid finally pulled away late for a 20-18 victory. Marta Miščenko led Rapid with 9 points.

The perfect record sends Rapid directly into the Semi-Finals, where they will face the winner of Netherlands-Beijing.

France arise from three-way tie in Pool A

Pool A produced one of the most dramatic storylines of the day, with France, Netherlands and Neftchi SOCAR all finishing 2-1. France ultimately emerged on top of the standings on total points, earning a direct Semi-Final berth despite opening the day with a 17-15 defeat to Neftchi.

France bounced back emphatically against Germany, building a commanding 14-8 lead before securing a 21-13 victory. Marie Milapie led the way with 8 points.

That set up a decisive clash with Netherlands. The two teams traded blows throughout a tense contest, with neither able to establish a significant advantage. Netherlands moved ahead 15-14 after an Ilse Kuijt two-pointer, but France responded when Marie Mané hit from beyond the arc to put her team ahead 19-17. Marie-Eve Paget then delivered the decisive blow, knocking down a two-pointer to complete a 21-17 victory.

The result gave France the win they needed to finish 2-1 and take first place in the three-way tie, sending them directly into the Semi-Finals. In the process, the French also ended the Dutch’s win streak at 27 games.

Knockout stage set for Sunday

With the pool stage complete, the Shanghai Final moves into its knockout phase on Sunday.

The winners will advance to face France and Rapid Bucharest respectively in the Semi-Finals.

WARSAW (Poland) – The road to the FIBA 3×3 World Cup 2026 title narrowed considerably on Day 6 as the Quarter-Finals delivered drama, heartbreak and championship-defining performances.

With a place in the Semi-Finals at stake, the world’s best teams left everything on the half-court. Some contenders strengthened their claims for gold, several stars rose to the occasion, and others saw their World Cup dreams come to an end.

In today’s standout results, the men from Serbia emerged victorious in a blockbuster clash against the Dutch while the Dutch women edged one step closer to back-to-back FIBA 3×3 World Cup titles with a gritty win over Hungary.

SERBIA (Men)

Serbia faced off against the Netherlands in a matchup between two of 3×3’s greatest sides, and it did not disappoint. Physical and closely fought all the way until the end, it would be Serbia who would come away with the victory off the back of a 9-point game from World #1 Strahinja Stojacic. Nemanja Barać got the final bucket to earn Serbia a 21 – 19 win and keep their hopes for World Cup title #7 alive as they head into the Semi-final tomorrow.

NETHERLANDS (Women)

The new-look Dutch side were unbeaten heading into their Quarter-final matchup against Hungary who seemed to have found their groove on both sides of the game. While the Dutch maintained a slight advantage for majority of the game, Hungary were always right there with them. Zoë Slagter and Lotte van Kruistum led the way for the Dutch onslaught with 8 points apiece.

However, Hungary kept barging into the Dutch lead, eventually closing the gap at 20 apiece. In a ‘next buckets wins’ situation, Noortje Driessen put the game on ice for the Dutch with a clutch layup, handing them a 21 – 20 victory over Hungary. They book their place into the Final four as they hope to make it two World Cup titles in a row on Day 7.

In the inaugural Dunk Mania contest, it was Team Grabo that ultimately won. Hometown hero Piotr “Grabo” Grabowski led the way, together with other Team Grabo dunkers Chen “Dunk King” Deng Xing (China) and Dmitry “Smoove” Krivenko (Ukraine).

DAY 7

The FIBA 3×3 World Cup 2026 reaches its climax on Final Day. The Semi-Finals winners advance to the gold medal games, while the losing Semi-Finalists will battle for bronze.

DEBRECEN (Hungary) – Baskets Bonn (GER) were unstoppable in pool play, going unbeaten on Day 1 of FIBA 3×3 World Tour Debrecen 2026 on August 29.

BASKETS BONN

There seems to be no stopping the rising stars from Germany as they showed out on Day 1. They went unbeaten in Qualifying Draw, defeating Kaunas and Barcelona to book their spot into the pool phase. Fabian Giessmann was once again the leading force in their efforts. 

They started pool action with a statement, a 20-11 victory over a contending Liman. They took down equally stiff competition in their final game of the day against Ulaanbaatar, 21 – 15 victors. Fabian Giessmann handled business yet again, particularly in their game against the Mongolian team where he scored a whopping 14 points to lead his side to the win.

Ub, Amsterdam and Miami also finished their days with a perfect pool record, topping their groups ahead of the decisive Day 2 slate of games.

WORTHY DE JONG (Amsterdam)

Hype Worthy is back with a bang! 

He made his return to World Tour action in Debrecen and instantly made his presence felt. In their opening game against Liberec, Amsterdam found themselves on the ropes. That was until Worthy de Jong took over, firing from deep with clutch shot after another. He went on to drill the game-winning dagger as well, putting up 11 points with 5 2-pointers to lead his side to victory.

He chipped in with another 6-point performance in their win over Raudondvaris as the Dutch closed the day with a perfect record. De Jong is feeling himself as they prepare for the win on Day 2.

AMSTERDAM (Netherlands) – Amsterdam (NED) delivered fireworks in front of the home crowd as they secured a perfect record on Day 1 of the FIBA 3×3 World Tour Amsterdam on June 20.

The Dutch side found themselves in a stacked pool, taking on two contending sides in Baskets Bonn (GER) and Shanghai (CHN). 

Their first tie was a nail-biter against the German side. Both sides game-planned perfectly for the other with neither being able to grab control of proceedings. It came down to the wire, but Amsterdam had done enough to come away as 13 – 12 victors. Worthy de Jong led his side in scoring with 7 of the 13 points.

They closed out the day with a pool deciding clash against Shanghai. Once again, the Dutch showed out in front of the home crowd, coming away with a 21 – 16 victory. It was Worthy de Jong on top once again as he put up a whopping 13 points in the closing win. 

Amsterdam are locked in and ready as they head into knockout action on home turf.

It was the Worthy de Jong show in Amsterdam tonight. When buckets were needed, Worthy provided. He put up 7 of his side’s 13 points in their opening win over Baskets Bonn. He took it up another notch in their second game against Shanghai, going off for 13 points in the win. 

His defensive impact was stellar as usual, limiting two high-scoring sides from gaining momentum. 

The Dutch have an on-fire Worthy at the helm heading into knockout games on Day 3.
