Iowa women’s basketball guard Dani Carnegie is a world champion. Carnegie helped USA Basketball capture the gold medal at the 2026 FIBA 3×3 U23 World Cup in Wuhan, China.
Team USA defeated Canada, 15-10, in the championship game to claim its second women’s FIBA 3×3 U23 World Cup title. This closed out an undefeated tournament run for the Americans, who won all six games played.

In the group stage, Carnegie scored 17 points and gathered 14 rebounds and four assists for Team USA. In the knockout stage, she totaled 19 points, nine rebounds, two assists, and one block, including five points and four rebounds in Team USA’s 15-10 championship victory over Canada.
The gold medal caps a successful summer with USA Basketball for Carnegie. The 5-foot-9 native of Mount Vernon, N.Y., helped the United States secure a berth in the U23 World Cup by winning the 2026 FIBA 3×3 Nations League Americas North Conference in July in Ñuñoa, Chile. Carnegie also competed at the USA Basketball 3X Showcase in May, helping Team Phoenix claim the tournament title.
Carnegie joined the Hawkeyes this offseason via the transfer portal after earning unanimous first-team All-SEC honors at Georgia in 2025-26. Carnegie averaged 17.8 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 3.2 assists per game in 32 games with the Bulldogs. Carnegie earned ACC Sixth Player of the Year honors and was named to the All-ACC freshman team while at Georgia Tech during the 2024-25 campaign.

Iowa opens its 2026-27 schedule with an exhibition matchup against Maryville at Carver-Hawkeye Arena on Oct. 29, before beginning regular-season play against Towson on Nov. 2.
